Mental disorders are not easy to work with. This goes for children as well. The newest in updated autism data has given light and hope to all parents, pediatricians, and teachers. This expanding disorder is growing, but not just in children. Discoveries and studies are being done every day to help find a cure and a cause.

Tens of millions of kids are effected by autistic measures throughout the world. Of these, a minimum of 1.5 million are Americans. Without a cure, therapeutical measures are needed. This is because there is no identified cause of this disorder.

As the statistics roll on, it is equally imperative to remember that autistic children are not mentally retarded, but rather highly intelligent. The percentage of growth lies between 10 and 17% every year. This mental disorder is more common than three of the most deadly diseases among children combined: Aids, diabetes and cancer.

There are several spectrums of this PDD. The underlying effects prevent children from being able to speak and express emotion clearly. The development of the right side of the brain is slow, or completely stopped, depending on the progression of the disorder.

Children who are typically diagnosed with it do not babble by the time they are a year old, cannot return smiles or expressions at six months, and cannot mimic sounds, smiles or other audible characteristics at nine months. These warning signs should be immediately looked at by a pediatrician for early intervention.

The little tykes with incredible intelligence levels have created a new world of autism data. These poor kids have to work hard to get their world known to others, and are very confused by those who do not understand them. However, all is not lost, just made a little more difficult to get to.
